Leaf Vacuuming Information

Golden Fall leaf on gray sidewalk.

The City of University Heights offers leaf vacuuming to residents. To take advantage of this service:

  • Rake leaves into piles on the grassy right-of-way at the property edge, close to (not in) the street.
  • Do not rake leaves into the gutter or street or onto the sidewalk. Leaves in the street could end up in storm sewers and cause flooding.
  • Leaves only, no branches, sticks, or other yard waste.
  • Combine leaves in good-sized piles. Having to vacuum many small, spread-out piles slows the process.

This year's leaf vacuuming start dates are November 4 and November 25. It could take three days to vacuum all of University Heights each time, so vacuuming in some areas may begin as many as two days later.

A third leaf vacuuming date will be scheduled in spring.
